Depurative
Depuratives are herbs that enhance the body’s detoxification and elimination processes, reducing the buildup of metabolic waste and toxins. They act through multiple mechanisms including supporting lymphatic drainage, promoting liver and kidney function to stimulate bile flow and increase urinary output. They can also be referred to as alteratives or blood purifiers, they are predominantly applied to manage chronic skin conditions, musculoskeletal conditions.
Examples of depurative herbs include burdock (Arctium lappa), echinacea root (Echinacea purpurea), nettle leaf (Urtica dioica), and yellow dock (Rumex crispus).
