Vasodilator
Vasodilator herbs dilate blood vessels by relaxing smooth muscle in the vessel walls, creating increased blood flow and lowered blood pressure. Vasodilators help to increase circulation and support cardiovascular health. They act via multiple mechanisms including stimulating the release of nitric oxide or prostaglandins which promote relaxation and reduce calcium influx in the muscle cells.
Vasodilators can be applied to support circulatory health and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Examples include olive leaf (Olea europea), limeflower (Tilia spp.) and hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna).
