Diaphoretic
Diaphoretics are herbs that promote sweating by increasing circulation to the surface of the skin, often through dilating surface capillaries. Diaphoretics help to relieve fevers, support detoxification and improve blood flow. They work by stimulating peripheral blood flow, facilitating perspiration and elimination of toxins through the skin.
They can be applied to offer relief from infections accompanied by a fever, or to try and promote sweating to eliminate toxins.
Examples include yarrow (Achillea millefolium), elderflower (Sambucus nigra), and ginger root (Zingiber officinale).
