Vata balancing
Vata dosha is associated with air and space, embodying qualities such as lightness, dryness, coolness, and mobility. To balance vata, Ayurveda recommends herbs that are warming, grounding, and nourishing, helping to counteract the depleting nature of vata dosha.
Vata balancing herbs have warming properties to provide warmth and stability; grounding effects to provide stability; nourishing qualities to provide moisture and support; stress-reducing effects including adaptogenic properties; and enhancing stamina and vitality.
Examples include bala (Sida cordifolia), triphala and marshmallow (Althaea officinalis). These are predominant in sweet, sour and salty tastes, with a hot potency, and sliminess, oiliness and heaviness.
