Phlegm is a broad term, causing stubborn obstructions anywhere in the body, ranging from nodules and masses, paralysis and seizures. They tend to be strong in action and toxic without correct preparation.
Examples include ban xia (pinellia rhizome, Pinellia ternata), tian nan xing (Arisaema tuber, Arisaema erubescens) and bai fu zi (typhonium, Typhonium giganteum).
