Vata+
Herbs that increase vata are dry, light, cold, rough, subtle, and mobile, enhancing vata’s natural tendencies of dryness, instability, and lightness. They have a light, airy, or dispersing effect on the body and mind. They can be rough, stimulating peristalsis or nerve activity in ways that provoke restlessness, anxiety, or digestion irregularities.
Vata+ herbs tend to cause mental scatter, fatigue, tremors, constipation, or erratic energy patterns. Their energetic effects are upward, lightening, and destabilising, contrasting with grounding and warming herbs that pacify vata. Such herbs are predominant in bitter, pungent, astringent tastes with a cooling virya (potency).
