Scraping wastes (lekhaniya)
Lekhaniya herbs are known in Ayurveda for their ability to “scrape” accumulated waste and metabolic residues from the body through a drying, lightening and clarifying action. Their predominantly bitter and pungent flavours help reduce excess kapha and ama, supporting clearer channels and improved metabolic function.
Guggul (Commiphora mukul) offers strong detoxifying and circulatory‑enhancing qualities, while vacha (Acorus calamus) stimulates stagnation and clears heaviness, especially in the head. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and triphala provide cleansing and rejuvenation.
Even simple food substances like barley and honey contribute drying, channel‑scraping energetics, helping restore balance, lightness and healthy tissue metabolism.
