Poison destroying (vishaghna)
Vishaghna herbs neutralise harmful substances, whether environmental, microbial, or metabolic, from the body. They carry tikta (bitter) and kashaya (astringent) qualities, with cooling energetics that clear heat, purify blood and stabilise aggravated pitta dosha and rakta dhatu (blood tissue).
Examples include neem (Azadirachta indica), a potent antimicrobial; kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa), intensely bitter and renowned for liver cleansing; and brahmi (Bacopa monnieri). Bhringaraj (Eclipta alba) is cited in ancient Ayurvedic toxicology for snake bites, reflected in its use in formulations for detoxification and to stabilise liver and blood, counteracting the effects of venom.
