Plasma (rasavaha srotas)
The plasma channels (rasavaha srotas) are responsible for transporting plasma (rasa), the nutritive fluid derived from digested food, through the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems, nourishing all body tissues. They originate from the heart, including major arteries, veins, and capillaries. They transport nutrients, oxygen, and biofluids, aid in fat absorption, regulate water-electrolyte balance, and maintain blood volume and viscosity.
Proper function ensures tissue nourishment, energy distribution, and homeostasis, while vitiation — caused by diet, excess cold or heavy foods, or anxiety — can lead to symptoms such as anorexia, fatigue, anaemia, and circulatory disturbances.
Amla (Phyllanthus emblica), aloe (Aloe vera), cleavers (Galium aparine) and dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) are herbs that act on this channel.
