Kapha balancing
Herbs that simply balance kapha dosha without increasing or reducing are warming, light, dry, and stimulating, counteracting kapha’s heavy, moist, and cool nature. Herbs with bitter, pungent and astringent tastes generally balance kapha. These herbs, such as triphala, turmeric (Curcuma longa) and astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus), possess heating and pungent qualities, enhancing metabolism and clearing mucus. They are light, bitter, astringent, and exfoliating, helping to reduce water retention, congestion, lethargy, and excess fat.
Kapha balancing herbs have digestive, diuretic, and detoxifying effects invigorate the body and mind, lifting sluggishness. Regular use of these herbs fosters physical warmth, mental clarity, and balanced, energised kapha physiology.
