Gallbladder

膽囊 or 胆囊 dǎnnáng is the hollow, yang organ (府 fǔ) related to the Wood phase.

It has many more functions than simply the storage and release of bile, being compared to a judge who makes decisions on behalf of the other organs. This ensures that the body functions as a single unit and that the person has the courage to take decisive actions.

Its yin–yang property is considered lesser yang (少陽 or 少阳 shǎoyáng).
