Life-bringing (jeevaniya)
Jeevaniya are life‑giving, vitality‑enhancing herbs that nourish rasa dhatu (lymph) and support overall rejuvenation, strength and longevity. They typically exhibit madhura rasa (sweet taste), snigdha (unctuous) and guru (nourishing) guna, shita virya (cooling potency), and madhura vipaka, all of which stabilise vata dosha, calm pitta, and build deep tissue resilience.
Examples include amalaki (Emblica officinalis), revered as a primaryrasayana for restoring vitality; shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) and vidari (Pueraria tuberosa), all known for their nourishing, restorative effects. Many such herbs are found in the traditional Ayurvedic herbal jam Chyawanprash, given to rejuvenate body and mind.
