Nat Mady
Nat Mady is a Hackney-based permaculturist with a passion for connecting people with nature in the city. In 2015, she founded Hackney Herbal, a social enterprise promoting wellbeing using herbs as a way to share knowledge about plants and their many creative uses. They are based at Trowbridge Gardens in East London where they run a variety of nature-based activities and projects with the local community.
Her work focuses on facilitating workshops on herbalism, gardening and permaculture to a wide range of audiences. She is the author of ‘Enjoying Wild Herbs’ from a series of pamphlets created by Rough Trade Books in partnership with Garden Museum. Nat previously worked as a structural engineer before completing an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development at the Development Planning Unit at UCL. Her studies focused on agroecology, urban agriculture and models of resilience.
