Circulatory stimulant
Circulatory stimulant herbs help to enhance blood flow and increase peripheral circulation, supporting vascular tone and delivery of blood and nutrients throughout the circulatory system. They exert this effect via multiple actions including vasodilation, improved microcirculation and promotion of blood flow.
These herbs can often have pungent qualities as well as flavonoid, antioxidant and alkaloids phytoconstituents and they help to transport oxygen and nutrients to tissues through the cardiovascular system. They can be applied in cold constitutions, or in sluggish circulation such as Reynaud’s.
Examples include ginger (Zingiber officinale), ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), chilli (Capsicum minimum), horseradish (Amoracia rusticana) and dang gui (Angelica sinensis).
