Mental (mano vaha srotas)
The mind channel (mano vaha srotas) has its root in the heart and reaches all bodily cells (apart from hair and nails). They are the subtle channels that carry thoughts, emotions, and mental impulses throughout the body, connecting the heart and brain and influencing psychological and cognitive function. They transport nutrients, mediate consciousness, and regulate mental faculties including intellect, memory, and emotion. Imbalances, caused by stress, excessive thinking, or vitiated doshas (rajas and tamas), result in emotional disturbances, insomnia, anxiety, or mental disorders.
It is supported by hot, dry herbs such as vacha (Acorus calamus) to clear blockages, and ashwagandha (Withana somnifera) to nourish.
