Air (pranavaha srotas)
Pranavaha srotas (air channel) governs the flow of prana, ensuring respiration, oxygenation, and life force circulation, vital for sustaining health. It originates in the heart, traverses the lungs, trachea, and bronchi, and opens at the nostrils, regulating inspiration and expiration. They coordinate with subdoshas — prana vayu, udana vayu, vyana vayu, and avalambaka kapha — supporting energy distribution, breath control, and oxygen supply. Proper function maintains vitality, while imbalance can cause respiratory disorders, dyspnea, or impaired energy flow.
This channel is supported by herbs such as tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) and ginger (Zingiber officinale), as well as pranayama.
