Skin health
The integumentary system is the body’s outermost defence, composed of skin, hair, and nails. It acts as a barrier against pathogens, regulates temperature, and prevents fluid loss. The skin also contains sensory receptors, enabling perception of touch, pain, and temperature. Layers of epidermis and dermis support regeneration and repair, while pigment cells contribute to protection from ultraviolet light. Skin conditions include eczema, acne, wounds, or cancers. The skin interacts with immune, vascular, eliminatory and nervous systems.
