Stops digestive spasms (shula prasamana)
Shula prasamana herbs are used in Ayurveda to relieve colic, abdominal pain, and intestinal spasms by calming aggravated vata dosha in the gut and supporting smoother peristalsis. Their actions are typically warming, carminative and antispasmodic, helping to disperse gas, reduce cramping and restore digestive comfort.
Hing (Ferula asafoetida) is a classic example, renowned for rapidly easing spasmodic pain and bloating. Cumin (Cuminum cyminum) supports digestion, reduces gas, and relaxes the intestines. Other supportive herbs include ginger (Zingiber officinale) and ajwain (Trachyspermum ammi), both of which warm the gut and relieve cramping. Together, these herbs help restore easeful, pain‑free digestion.
